SPOKANE, WA — For the first time since July 28th, Velocity FC will be represented in League One’s Team of the Week. Defender Lucky Opara earns the honors for week 25 after scoring to lead the Lads to a win last Saturday.
Opara scored a header in the 30th minute against Triumph SC, which was his first goal of the season. He also won seven of his 10 duels and had three clearances and tackles defensively, with his all-around performance earning him his first Team of the Week selection since week six.
August has been a roller coaster for Velocity FC, as they had two matches postponed due to weather or travel delays. Following their match against Greenville last weekend, Opara spoke on those challenges and what the team’s mindset has been.
“We’ll keep doing the right thing, coming out everyday and pushing each other,” said Opara.
15 Velocity FC players have made a Team of the Week this season, with 12 of them being returners from the 2025 roster. With a three-match road trip coming up, Head Coach Leigh Veidman spoke on what the team will need to do to be successful away from home.
“The guys are very much aware of what’s coming ahead, with the schedule and the amount of games left,” said Veidman. “What you saw [against Greenville], that mentality at the end of the game, is what we’re going to need on the road.”

Velocity FC’s next home match will be on September 20th against their regional rival, Athletic Club Boise.
