SPOKANE, WA — The Lads will be looking for a bounce back this Saturday when they host Triumph SC at 6:30 PM PT. Coming off of back-to-back losses last week, Velocity FC will want to flip the script and recover points in the League One table.

League One Standings
Spokane (10-7-2) is sixth in league standings with 32 points, sitting two points behind Athletic Club Boise for fifth. Union Omaha have begun distancing themselves from the rest at the top of the table with 44 points, leading the race for the Players’ Shield.
Greenville (5-10-5) is in fifteenth place and below the playoff line with 20 points. The side have turned things around recently, going unbeaten in four of their last five matches, including a 3-2 win over Boise. However, Triumph SC have only won once on the road this season and are 1-7-2 away from GE Vernova Park.
Looking Back
Last week was one to forget for Velocity FC, who lost twice in three days and were eliminated from the USL Cup’s knockout rounds. The losses to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and Corpus Christi FC was the first time Spokane suffered consecutive losses since the beginning of July.
Triumph SC also had two matches last week, playing both Forward Madison FC and One Knoxville SC to 1-1 draws. Greenville has had the edge against Spokane all-time, boasting a 4-1-0 record against the side.
Players to Watch
Last week, Velocity FC forward Shavon John-Brown recorded his third assist of the season on Spokane’s second goal against Corpus Christi. Overall, the Grenadian midfielder leads the team in goals (5) and is tied for first in assists (3) with Jack Denton.
Greenville has an impressive striker of their own in Azaad Liadi, who leads the team in goals with five. Liadi is also seventh among all League One players in shot attempts this season with 39, which is 17 more than Velocity FC’s highest shot total (Luis Gil, 22).
Looking Forward
Following Saturday’s match, Velocity FC will travel to the east coast for a match against Westchester SC on August 29th. This contest is set to kickoff at 4:00 PM PT and can be streamed on ESPN+.
Community Donation Drive
Throughout August and September, USL Spokane is partnering with Project Beauty Share to collect essential hygiene and toiletry items for families affected by wildfires in the region. We are also teaming up with Les Schwab for our annual Youth Soccer Gear Drive, supporting 90+ in sharing soccer with children of all economic backgrounds.
